our salt

Our salt comes from collection points across the Narragansett Bay and Block Island Sound. Water is harvested using a food-grade portable pump into buckets or barrels and transported to Providence for solar-based evaporation. We use a combination of high and low technology (parabolic solar reflectors and just wood..) to harness the sun’s rays, and record data for each batch in a database keeping track of date, time, location, season, tide, weather, bedrock, and water temperature. When you buy our salt, some of that data is passed on to you.
